The First Colony is an “augmented book”.
In the printed version you’ll find QR codes like this, which give access to further online content and will, over time, be expanded to include the latest ideas and content, also in response to readers’ opinions and suggestions.
Each QR code contains glyphs, in the form of icons, symbols, letters, ideograms and formulas, that precede the scenes, and are linked to them at various levels of relevance: linguistic, graphic, symbolic, etc. offering further interpretations of the events and characters.
The e-book version contains a future ‘wiki’, an encyclopedia of scientific terms, with easily accessible links (the glyphs also contain links).
Readers of the printed version can access the ‘wiki’ pages online, through the QR codes. E-book readers will be able to access the content online through the QR codes in the e-book, if the reading device has Internet access. So, welcome to the Montecristo Project, and enjoy.
